Head of Data Engineering

£500 - 1000 Daily Rate - UMBRELLA

Full Time

6 Month Contract Initially

This post is available on a home-worker basis, with occasional need to visit any Client site - London, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle.

Our Public Sector Client is looking for a Head of Data Engineering to join their team on an interim basis. This role is urgently needed while the current role holder is on unplanned extended leave. The successful candidate will have implemented a data warehouse and be competent at understanding all aspects of the Microsoft BI stack. They will be able to converse effectively with all levels of the organisation, including external stakeholders, to tease out current business processes and business requirements.

Qualifications:
  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a management level. Alternatively, equivalent professional experience and portfolio of evidence demonstrating data warehousing, analysis and data management experience.
  2. Qualification in Project Management e.g. PRINCE 2 Foundation (Desirable)
  3. Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts professional registration (Desirable)
Knowledge, Skills and Expertise:
  1. Ability to manage a workflow and achieve short deadlines.
  2. Ability to work in an environment where there are frequent interruptions.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality within the workplace (particularly within the NHS).
  4. Knowledge and understanding of General Data Protection Regulations (2018).
Experience:
  1. Advance level of MS Excel.
  2. Intermediate level of MS Access, Word, Outlook, Visio and Sharepoint.
  3. Experience of managing multiple databases.
  4. Experience of designing, developing and managing data warehouses or other complex relational databases.
  5. Experience of designing, developing and managing ETL processes.
  6. Experience of using Power BI and creating reports/analysing data using it.
  7. Experience of working to tight deadlines.
  8. Extensive experience of analysing complex data sets effectively in a variety of settings.
  9. Experience of working with and combining data contained within different data sources.
  10. Extensive experience of complex SQL code to include development of scripts, functions and procedures.
  11. Experience of using and implementing SSRS and SSIS.
  12. Experience of maintaining database back end processes such as jobs, backups and linked servers.
  13. Experience of procuring and/or building a data warehouse from scratch.

Experience within the NHS is essential for this position.
