Michael Page is partnering with a leading Fintech/Payments firm based in Central London as they seek an experienced Head of Financial Accounting to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The Head of Financial Accounting will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, managing financial accounting operations, and supporting strategic decision-making as the business continues its impressive growth trajectory. Along with leading a team of Accountants to deliver high-quality work.

Job Description

As Head of Financial Accounting, your key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Lead a team of Accountants to deliver high-quality month-end close processes and support professional development.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes in line with IFRS and Group policies.
  • Collaborate with teams to validate information, ensuring accurate and insightful accounting.
  • Provide performance analysis and reporting to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure Finance supports strategic priorities and change projects, assessing accounting impacts.
  • Update accounting policies and adapt processes for strategic initiatives, such as new retail partner integration.
  • Facilitate a smooth external audit by providing documentation and addressing queries promptly.
  • Align all deliverables with the Financial Control Framework and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Drive continuous process and control improvements to enhance month-end close and audit efficiency.

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA qualified accountant.
  • Will be immediately available to start the role or on a reduced notice period.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proactive, with strong analytical and concise presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and strategic insight.
  • Strong IFRS knowledge and experience implementing accounting policies for compliance.
