We are working with one of the top social enterprises focusing on education and support for teachers and educational leaders, to find a Head of Policy to join their team in London. As a leading charity operating in the education space, our client believes in helping children to achieve their maximum potential via working closely with schools to unlock opportunities for all, particularly those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In their bid to further help and make education fairer, our client is searching for an experienced Head of Policy to create key strategies and systems for interpreting and disseminating key ideas - especially in the lead up to the general election. As Head of Policy, you will report into the Director of External Relations and help to drive campaigns that achieve lasting change and grow the charity's reputation with multiple audiences.
Key responsibilities:- The Head of Policy will lead the development of policy strategy to achieve progress in education for disadvantaged young people that also grows awareness of the charity.
- You will be the go-to person on policy matters and will be expected to build strong relationships with colleagues and secure support for this work.
- Provide sound counsel to senior colleagues on policy and the political landscape, provide key analysis, and also work with the media team to develop stories for press that engage new audiences.
- Developing policy proposals and reports, papers, briefings, consultation responses and social media posts with clarity.
- Development of key relationships with individuals and think tanks, research organisations, and the civil service - lead on gathering insights from the organisation's network including teachers to inform policy proposals.
- Track progress and be a proactive member of the team, developing goals and engaging with audiences throughout the policy change process.
- A policy expert with significant experience of developing leading strategies that achieve lasting change and impact in a relevant sector.
- A leader and seasoned campaigner with experience of growing an organisation's brand and reputation.
- Able to drive change and galvanise internal and external stakeholders in time pressured environments, as well as being an effective team player.
- Previous experience of managing and securing funding for budgets.
- Proficient at interpreting data, identifying trends and succinctly highlighting new angles on issues as well as proposing policy solutions.
