Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Risk Settlement to join our Fiduciary Clients team on a permanent basis based in London, hybrid working.

Who we are

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They're what we stand for.

The role

As the Head of Risk Settlement (HoRS), you will be responsible for leading Railpen's 'End Game' proposition and ensuring that Railpen supports closed sections' long term goals of run off, buy-in and/or buyout. This role will also ensure that 'End Game' solutions deliver good value to stakeholders, whilst maintaining processes that are effective, efficient and support the regulatory requirements of the Trustee and Railpen. In addition, the HoRS will coordinate the integrated delivery of long term goals across all relevant Railpen teams and will be responsible for the regulated advice related to insurance transactions.

The person

The successful candidate will have a good track record of delivery on risk settlement transactions (including buy-ins and buy-outs), alongside demonstrable experience of managing insurance deals from start to finish, ensuring they deliver good value, meet stakeholder needs, meet all regulatory requirements, and are completed on time and on budget. You will also be qualified in delivering regulated advice related to risk settlement transactions and to Trustee Boards. In addition, you will be responsible for employer engagement and Trustee delivery relating to broader end game solutions.

We are looking for a credible communicator, someone who is adaptable, collaborative in their approach and is able to build effective relationships both within and outside of Railpen. The success of the end game proposition will be dependent on working across other teams in Railpen, in particular the pensions administration team. You will be confident in delegating authority and accountability to the team to deliver on a strategic objective. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently, with a focus on delivering best practice and an overall approach towards continuous improvement will also ensure success in the role.
