Job Description

On behalf of the CPS, we are looking for an Interim Chief Digital and Information Officer (Inside IR35) for a contract until End of March '25 based hybrid in London or any other CPS office - 2 days per week onsite.

The CPS prosecutes criminal cases that have been investigated by the police and other investigative organisations in England and Wales. The CPS is independent, and they make their decisions independently of the police and government.

Their duty is to make sure that the right person is prosecuted for the right offence, and to bring offenders to justice wherever possible.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks

As an Interim Chief Digital and Information Officer, your main responsibilities will be:
. The provision and management of efficient and effective digital technology services, applications and processes to CPS, HMCPSI and the AGO
. The continued development of that provision to ensure it meets evolving user and business needs
. Maintaining the integrity of all CPS assets - personnel, physical, ICT and data - thereby enabling all staff to work safely and securely whilst safeguarding the rights of all data subjects who entrust us with their information.
. Ensuring the CPS is compliant - and can demonstrate compliance - with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018), Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA 2000) and the Public Records Act 1958 (PRA 1958).

Accountabilities:
. Build understanding of CPS purpose and corporate strategy across the CJS and wider government
. Inspire senior leaders and staff within DID to engage fully with the vision and purpose of the CPS
. Develop DID strategies and business plans that support the CPS's vision and ensure that DID continues to meet the future needs of the CPS and CJS
. Engage the business to ensure engagement and buy in to DID strategies and plans
. Define and establish a clear performance management process for DID, regularly monitoring performance and reporting on this to EG and/or Board as required
. Establish and maintain security protocols to protect CPS data and information, ensuring all CPS employees are supported with the right training and development to protect CPS assets
. Ensure that Area-based colleagues are well supported and enabled to deliver in their roles
. Act as SRO for strategic projects that require senior leadership direction due to the scale of organisational impact, high profile, or sensitive nature
. Provide leadership to transformation programmes to promote and maximise the benefits of digital ways of working
. Through excellent relationships with senior leaders, secure business commitment for significant change and innovation
. Oversee the implementation and effective operation of the Government Technology Code of Practice and other requirements
. Share good practice across CPS and CJS and identify opportunities to share learning and development
. Oversee service performance to ensure the effective operation of in-house teams and technology suppliers
. Provide senior leadership assurance that there is sufficient resilience across digital technologies to ensure the continuity of business operations and subsequent recovery, in the event of disruption to digital services
. Build and maintain trusted, credible, and influential partnerships that shape the agenda and drive activity for the CJS and support the needs of the CPS
. As a strategic leader, influence and negotiate with external partners, stakeholders, and customers to secure mutually beneficial outcomes for the CPS as a whole
. Build communities of Digital Transformation Leads and Security & Information Managers that provide organisation wide buy-in and engagement
. Provide visible and strong leadership focused on the delivery of the strategic priorities for the functions and the corporate strategy
