Job Description

NEW International Tax Manager role available at leading global law firm. As the International Tax Manager, you will play a key part in the Partner Affairs and Tax team being responsible for the oversight of the firm's tax risk and policies and global tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the tax systems of the territories in which the firm operates and a good working knowledge of the partner payment side of the Partnership Affairs Tax team's work.
  • Tax compliance including managing advisors and internal teams to support local CFOs with tax filings for the firm and its partners. Manage information requests from partners, local offices, and advisors to meet tax deadlines.
  • Year-end work to produce non-UK tax reserve calculations, tax equalisation calculations and tax related fiscal accounts notes.
  • Reconciliation of partners' non-UK tax reserves.
  • Reviewing ad hoc tax filings in non-territories and advise on potential exposures elsewhere.
  • Management of work to prepare UK Double Taxation Relief calculations for UK resident members of the firm for inclusion in individual partner UK tax filings.
  • Management of withholding tax exposures for the firm, both in relation to client transactions and interoffice balance settlement. Ensure internal and external queries are answered correctly and on a timely basis.
  • Tax advice in relation to mobility issues, including individuals working overseas.
  • Other ad-hoc tax advisory work as required.
  • Ongoing review of existing processes to ensure that they continue to be appropriate (e.g. to reflect impacts of business change transactions and external legislative developments), and to identify opportunities to improve these.
  • Management of work of junior team members.
Experience Needed:
  • International tax experience is essential.
  • People management would be a 'nice to have' as this person would have a direct report.
  • At least 2-3 years PQE in a relevant accounting or tax qualification.
  • Partnership background preferred.
  • Knowledge of international tax issues affecting professional partnerships.
  • Relevant accounting or tax qualification.
  • Personal or Corporate Tax Experience to Manager level.

Additional Information:

  • This is a London based role and applicants must be able to work in the London office 3 days a week.
