As the company enters the next phase of growth, they are looking for a skilled and highly motivated IT Manager to oversee the technology infrastructure, cybersecurity protocols, and IT support services for their flexible energy generation assets. You will play a crucial role in maintaining IT systems, driving digital transformation, and ensuring the security of operational and corporate systems.

As well as managing operational IT, and ensuring stability, scalability and reliability, this role has a focus on cyber security and live energy trading and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IT Strategy and Leadership

    • Develop and manage IT policies, strategies, and budgets to support business goals.

    • Lead and manage the IT function, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

    • Provide technical leadership and oversee the handover of key IT responsibilities from the outgoing IT Director.

  • Cybersecurity Management:

    • Ensure the deployment and management of cybersecurity tools, including but not limited to Penetration Testing, Microsoft Defender, and Intune.

    • Oversee the ongoing rollout of cybersecurity initiatives such as Managed XDR, Purview Data Loss Prevention, and Bitwarden deployment.

    • Manage IT risks by establishing an IT Risk Register, conducting Incident Response exercises, and ensuring the security of our infrastructure.

  • Infrastructure and System Support:

    • Oversee the ongoing fit-out and communications setup of the Control Centre, including managing contracts and wayleave processing.

    • Coordinate the deployment of Windows 11 and maintain a stable and secure desktop environment for a growing user base that's currently at 120+.

    • Manage the consolidation of software stacks and ensure secure access controls, particularly in collaboration with our analytics and finance teams.

    • Review and prepare the infrastructure, including the Azure estate, to support the deployment of algorithms in live trading environments.

  • Project Management:

    • Ensure successful execution of critical projects, such as the migration of P6 to SaaS, integration of ERP Phase 2, and deployment of SIEM Sentinel.

    • Oversee the development and deployment of secure coding practices and ensure alignment with industry standards.

  • IT Support and Vendor Management:

    • Manage IT support across the company, working with internal teams and third-party providers such as Iglu, to ensure smooth onboarding, system updates, and issue resolution.

    • Ensure proper oversight of software approvals, upgrades, and access requests.

    • Provide technical oversight for digital tools related to major projects, such as Ineight/Forecast+ and Rippling HR systems.

    • Conduct thorough cost-benefit analyses and ensure cost-effectiveness.

  • Business Continuity Planning:

    • Schedule and conduct Business Continuity Planning (BCP) tests for Wakefield and HQ sites.

    • Develop mitigation plans to ensure business resilience and data recovery.

  • Applications and Tools:

    • Manage licenses, adds/moves/changes for key applications such as Prefect, and Inaccess.

    • Support SharePoint migration and management training for enhanced collaboration.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in IT management, ideally within the energy or infrastructure sectors.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, including penetration testing, data loss prevention, and secure coding practices.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies, including Intune, Defender, and Windows OS deployments.

  • Experience with ERP systems and SaaS migrations.

  • Vendor and project management experience, particularly in coordinating multiple third-party providers.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Commercial attention to detail, experience with cost-saving initiatives and a 'do more with less' mindset.
