About the role

Energia, part of Energia Group, have an exciting opportunity for a Junior H&S Officer based in Huntstown Power Station, Dublin.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Officer, the Junior Health and Safety Advisor will coordinate, support and advise on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety at Huntstown Power Station.

This key role will implement and monitor safe working practices and procedures in accordance with legislation, establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety within Energia are adhered to ensure a consistent approach to our HSE practices.

Your key responsibilities and accountabilities

Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like:

• Provide support to ensure we meet our statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

• Ensure that all Health and Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

• Maintain and monitor existing safe systems of work and introduce improvements where necessary.

• Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare at work legislation and communicate and / or recommend relevant changes to the business.

• Maintain Health & Safety induction programmes for contractors and employees and ensure all other H&S training is kept up to date.

• Update and monitor the Health and Safety management system for Huntstown Power Station.

• Assist in the creation and review of Health and Safety plans, risk assessments and method statements to ensure they are prepared and reviewed for all planned work.

• Ensure that all incidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.

• Carry out risk assessments, routine inspections and support with site audits as required.

• Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported, recorded and investigated and that suitable corrective measures are put in place.

• Act as a contact for external Health and Safety agencies such as the HSA.

• Support with the power station health and safety plans for maintenance shutdowns, and act as the H&S expert for the duration of any outages.

• Ad hoc projects as they arise.

Our key criteria

These are the qualifications, experience, skills, or knowledge you must have:

• Possess or be working to a third level qualification in Occupational H&S, a NEBOSH general certificate standard or equivalent.

• Demonstrable experience of carrying out risk assessments and conducting H&S audits.

• Previous experience in a similar role.

• Strong MS Office skills.

• Experience of dealing with external contractors and regulatory bodies.
