Job Description

At Octopus, we're entrepreneurs and we're investors, on a mission to back the people, ideas and industries that will change the world.

We think working here is great, but we're understandably biased.

About the Role

What's in it for you?

We're looking for a Learning & Development Partner - Level 2 to work within the People team, reporting to the L&D Partner Level 3.

Are you an experienced L&D practitioner who is excited about helping others develop and excel? Are you engaged when working independently and collaboratively to support Octopus's learning culture? You will partner with the team, the business, and our stakeholders to deliver across the full learning lifecycle to truly make an impact.

As an L&D Partner, you will join our fast-paced and collaborative team. You will partner with one of our business areas and work on a variety of innovative projects to help us understand and meet their evolving learning needs. Our goal is to help our people meet their potential and give them the skills they need to support Octopus in achieving its purpose.

The team:

The Learning & Development team (L&D team) is part of Octopus Investment's People Team. We work closely with the HR Business Partners, Recruitment, and HR Operations teams to design and deliver a learning strategy that supports our evolving learning and business needs.

The People team is a fun and high-performing team that partners with our leaders and colleagues in the business to help everyone get the most out of their time at Octopus.

In the L&D team, we bring our expertise to help Octopus Investment's people and managers succeed in their roles. We design and deliver learning that helps our people to grow and develop their skills. Understanding the business is key to our success, so we spend time getting to know the business to understand the challenges they're facing and the opportunities that might exist for our learning offerings to help them.

What will you be doing?

Collaborating with the L&D team, you will partner with your business area to conduct learning needs analyses and design and deliver learning interventions which support business and learner needs. You will deliver classroom, virtual, e-learning, and hybrid learning and support the delivery of our core curriculum and bespoke learning solutions.

You will assist in measuring and reporting on learning effectiveness to show how our L&D efforts are helping Octopus Investments make a difference.

As well as partnering with the business, we work with external learning providers to bring their expertise into our learning offerings. You will form and maintain relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside of the business.

We want to support the learning and development of ourselves as a team and as individuals. You will role model our learning culture, embodying a growth mindset, sharing your knowledge, and leveraging the knowledge and expertise of others to help you innovate and grow.

Qualifications

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A relevant training qualification - CIPD Level 5; PGCE; PTLLS; CTLLS; DTLLS or a comparable equivalent.
  • Experience with a psychometric tool (like SDI, Hogan or Clevry) would be beneficial.
  • Sales experience or pitching experience or experience in teaching these skills would be a huge benefit to supporting some of our current business challenges but not a deal breaker.
  • Experience in awareness and adoption of new tools/technology solutions (to support the IBOR project) would again be a differentiator but not a requirement.

We encourage you to apply even if you don't tick every box. This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you are looking for a challenge in a fast-paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.

What we offer
  • A competitive salary, bonus, pension, and share incentive plan.
  • Untracked holiday.
  • Hybrid working - most of our people spend 3 days a week in the office.
  • Anchor (our wellness hub) which includes Headspace, one-to-one coaching through Wellness Cloud, Digital GP, Shout & more.
  • Up to 6 months paid parental leave regardless of gender.
  • Life insurance, critical illness cover, and income protection.
  • Private medical insurance for you and your family.
  • Electric vehicle leasing.
Our Values

At our core, we believe that how a company behaves is just as important as what it does. That's why we chose to become an accredited B Corp and to change our Articles of Association so that the interests of all our stakeholders - employees, customers, communities, environment, and shareholders - are considered in every decision we make.

We're committed to creating a diverse and inclusive employee experience for all. We promote equal opportunities for growth and development regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socio-economic background. We believe strongly that teams are at their best when every member of the team feels safe to bring their whole self to work.
