Job Description
The role of Class 1 Relief / Tramper driver entails the critical responsibility of executing bulk collections and deliveries between various DPD sites and customers nationwide. Operating within our modern fleet, the successful candidate will adhere to an agreed shift pattern, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of palette loads to HGV-friendly locations.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertake a minimum of four nights per week away from base, utilising secure company locations for overnight stays in the vehicle.
Operate within a designated region surrounding the base depot, maintaining a thorough knowledge of the area and optimising route efficiency.
Ensure strict adherence to all relevant road safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all collections and deliveries.
Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each journey, reporting any issues promptly.
Demonstrate proficiency in loading and unloading trailers when required, adhering to all safety protocols.
Represent DPD professionally at all times, maintaining a high standard of personal presentation and vehicle cleanliness.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
Adapt to changing schedules and priorities as necessitated by business requirements.
Continuously update knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
This role demands a high level of commitment, professionalism, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining DPD's reputation for excellence in logistics and customer service.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
Valid UK Class 1 Driving Licence
Minimum of 12 months Class 1 experience
Valid UK Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card
Valid UK Digital Tachograph Card
Demonstrated ability to load and unload trailers as required
Critical Competencies:
Exceptional customer service skills with a commitment to upholding company standards
Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
Demonstrated professionalism and resourcefulness in challenging situations
Strong multitasking abilities and adept problem-solving skills
