Locum Consultant Neurologist

This is a fixed term Locum Consultant Neurologist role at Wexham Park Hospital. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). The term will be for 12 months initially with possibility of extension.

Main duties of the job4 PAs General Neurology outpatient clinics at WPH (or satellite sites), 3 PAs Inpatient Consultations, 2 PAs Admin and 1 PA SPA.
Duties of consultants in the department also include:
- Teaching Lectures / Workshops for other departments, trainees, nurses, midwives, GPs.
- Prospective cover of urgent ward reviews when colleagues are on leave.
- Triaging of neurology outpatient referrals and GP advice & guidance/queries.
- Supervision of clinical fellows and specialist nurses.

Person Specification Qualifications- MRCP or equivalent
- CCST in neurology or within 6 months of CCST with satisfactory PYA from Deanery.
- Full GMC registration and a license to practice
- Wide clinical experience of general management principles in adult neurology
- Previous experience in participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Understanding principles and participation in audit activity
- Understanding the principles of Clinical Governance and demonstrating experience of evidence-based practice
- Interest in epilepsy or multiple sclerosis
- Completion of a Training and Trainers course
- Previous participation in MRCP & student teaching
- Able to evaluate own clinical practice
- Able to demonstrate innovative thinking
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organise and develop service provision
- Computer literate - confident in using MS Office, Email and Internet
- Ability to be proactive
- Demonstrate being an effective team member
