Job Description

We build experienced, dynamic, and fractional teams that fit in like puzzle pieces-providing just the right knowledge and energy at the right time. We're not your typical agency or a one-man show; we're a team of passionate professionals who eat, sleep, and breathe branding and marketing.

Our diverse team of experts covers all marketing mix elements, from performance and social media to web development and beyond. With over 100 brands under our belt, our Brand Hackers have a treasure trove of shared experiences. This wealth of knowledge fuels our creativity and gives us the edge.

We've grown between 30% and 50% a year every year since launch in 2020. We have a strong reputation, brand awareness, and true product-market fit. When we explain what we do to a startup Founder, they lament they haven't found us earlier. Now, we're reviewing our leadership team structure for Brand Hackers.

You might have noticed, if you're particularly beady-eyed, that we have a Commercial Director job and a Head of New Business role. We are looking at 2x structures:

  1. Either a Head of New Business plus a Managing Director
  2. OR a Commercial Director

In either case, we need a team to lead the next stage of our revenue growth, setting the strategy, getting contracts signed, and building lasting client partnerships.

Brand Hackers is part of Up Collective, alongside Up World (community and curated learning for entrepreneurial marketers) and Up Talent (marketing-focused recruitment), and operates as one business internally.

The Role: Managing Director

As Managing Director, you'll hold ultimate responsibility for the overall performance of Brand Hackers. You will oversee all aspects of the business, from financial performance and operational efficiency to client success and team development. You'll set the vision for the next stage of growth, agree it with Lottie, and run with it, hitting big targets while nurturing our culture, reputation, and margins.

You'll work closely with the Founder (Lottie). With you stepping in, she'll refocus on building awareness of the business and driving the quality of the work.

What makes this so exciting is the particular stage in the business' growth - we are absolutely secure, profitable, and growing, but we have so much opportunity. This is a no-risk, very high-reward opportunity if you're motivated by making things happen with people you love working with.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the vision and strategy for Brand Hackers, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of Up Collective.
  2. Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team (line managing Head of Marketing & New Business Lead).
  3. Commercial Growth: Achieve a £3 million revenue target by the end of 2026, ensuring the business remains profitable and scalable.
  4. Client Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring Brand Hackers is their trusted partner.
  5. Operational Oversight: Ensure processes, systems, and structures are optimized for efficiency and scalability.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with the Founder, Head of Marketing, and other leaders within Up Collective to align on shared goals and resources.
  7. Representation: Act as a public face of the agency, building personal and brand visibility, which means lots of drinks parties!
About You

This could be the perfect role for you if you have:

  1. Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a service-driven business or agency, ideally as an MD, Head of Growth, or similar.
  2. A strong track record of achieving commercial growth while maintaining cultural and operational integrity.
  3. A strategic mindset paired with operational expertise, capable of seeing the big picture while driving day-to-day performance.
  4. Leadership experience with a knack for building and inspiring teams in fast-paced environments.
  5. Deep knowledge of or passion for the startup and marketing landscape, with a thirst for innovation and learning.
  6. Exceptional relationship-building skills, fostering long-term partnerships with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
