Our leading Business Management Consultancy client is seeking an accomplished, UK based Mid-Level Azure DevOps Engineer for this superb opening to work in an expanding Cloud Engineering division.

The role can be remote working/home based with minimal travel (London/Birmingham).

The salary range is circa £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on level of experience) plus pension, 25 days holiday (plus additional 1 social value day), healthcare, death in service, rewards plan.

As a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in driving process improvements and automating workflows across the SDLC for infrastructure and software. Your focus will be on enhancing the speed and frequency of delivery while ensuring secure and stable releases to production. You will support the teams in building reliable pipelines, monitoring systems, and incident management processes that improve our recovery times when issues arise. Additionally, you will collaborate on security practices, cost optimization (FinOps), and continuously look for ways to improve operational efficiency.

The DevOps team consists of specialists who collaborate to enhance software delivery performance across the organization. Each team member brings core expertise in areas such as cloud infrastructure design, infrastructure as code, automation server technologies, pipeline automation, observability, and quality. Our client also expects their DevOps Engineers to develop a specific area of specialization-this could be a Cloud platform (e.g., Azure or AWS), pipelines, or a key technology of our client's. In your area of expertise, you will serve as the group's Principal Specialist, consulting on the effective use of that technology across the organization.

This role is a hands-on technical position, focused on supporting the Developer Platforms and ensuring that both development and infrastructure teams can deploy to production quickly and securely. You will also be involved in project work supporting key initiatives, often exploring and working with new technologies. Adaptability, a willingness to learn quickly, and the ability to apply your experience to new tools and processes are essential for success in this role.

• Experience in IT platforms, with a focus on support engineering, infrastructure engineering, or software development.
• Proficiency in Azure Cloud computing services, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing Cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform or ARM templates (AWS exposure is a bonus).
• Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or other tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), enabling fast, reliable, and secure deployments.
• Strong understanding of source control systems (Git) and branching strategies that support a fast-paced development and deployment cycle.
• Good troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose and resolve issues within complex cloud environments, pipelines, or automated workflows.
• Basic programming/Good scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate repetitive tasks, enhance build/deployment processes, and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Continuous learner with a passion for keeping up with new DevOps tools, trends, and cloud technologies to help drive continuous improvement.
• Experience working with agile teams, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure DevOps processes align with development needs and business objectives.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplined team with an understanding of cloud related concepts such as networking and security.
• Effective communication skills to engage with an ability to not only listen but also advise providing appropriate challenges and questions to find the correct resolution.
• Understanding of ITIL around Release, Deployment and Change Management.
• Self-motivated and can use own initiative to work with limited guidance to implement innovative solutions.
• Containerization experience with tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (AKS), for deploying and managing containerized applications.
• Understanding of cloud architecture and how to design scalable, resilient, and efficient infrastructure solutions in Azure.
• Exposure to leadership opportunities, including mentoring junior team members, helping drive technical direction, or coordinating team efforts within DevOps initiatives.
• Relevant certifications such as AZ-104 (Microsoft Azure Administrator), AZ-204 (Microsoft Azure Developer), AZ-400 (Microsoft DevOps Engineer Expert), are a bonus but not essential.
