Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground and Nature Reserve
Role: Natural Burial Ground Co-ordinator Term: Full Time Hours: Five days, with some weekends, according to requirements Location: Tysoe, South Warwickshire Salary: £26,000
The Applicant
We are looking for someone to join our small team who is passionate about working for an ethical company, looking after families who are bereaved, and caring for the environment.
About Us
Sun Rising is a well reputed, much loved, carefully managed natural burial ground and nature reserve in rural south Warwickshire. We opened in 2006 and have nearly 2000 laid to rest. We offer ethical, environmentally-friendly options for burial, working closely with families to create personal funerals, burials and memorials, in the beautiful surroundings of the nature reserve.

The Role
The role is very broad and full of variety. The job may include the following:
Funerals: arranging, organising and conducting funerals; working with bereaved families, funeral directors and others; completing the necessary administration.
Memorials: managing orders, designing, installing and maintaining memorials, including temporary grave markers, slate plaques, trees and benches.
Natural Burial Ground: tidying and caring for burial areas to keep up the high standard expected by families and visitors.
Nature Reserve: being involved in the growing and planting of wildflowers, bulbs, shrubs and trees; helping with surveys of habitats and wildlife.
Public Engagement: maintaining a social media presence and mailing lists; being involved in arranging and managing public events; working with our associated charity, the Friends of Sun Rising.
Teamwork and Responsibilities: looking after shared aspects of the business such as the office space, tools and equipment, inventory.
About You
The ideal candidate would be
• focused on working in an ethical company, • passionate about caring for the natural world, • wholly responsible, reliable and trustworthy, • sensitive to the needs of grieving families, • organised and able to manage their time efficiently and effectively, • comfortable working collaboratively in a small team where tasks and responsibilities overlap, • happy to be working outdoors in all weathers, all year round.
They would need
• enough physical strength to carry out some aspects of the role, • a good level of literacy and general computer skills, • a tidy general appearance, • a full driving licence.
Previous experience: It would be a distinct advantage if you have some previous experience working in funerals or the environment. However, if you are the right person, we will give training in every aspect of the job.
