About the role

Are you a passionate and experienced HR professional or former nursery manager with HR experience looking to make a real impact?

We are seeking a dedicated HR Manager for a maternity cover to join our family of five nurseries in Central London. In this key role, you will work closely with the management team and directors to ensure our teams feel valued, empowered, and equipped to deliver outstanding childcare.
As the HR Manager, you will take overall responsibility for managing and developing all aspects of Human Resources across the nurseries. From onboarding to payroll, employee wellbeing, and compliance, you will play a central role in creating a positive, supportive work environment. While this role does not involve working directly with children, you will be instrumental in supporting the people who do.

Location

You will work in our Head office in Angel, you will also have to travel to our 5 nurseries.

Responsibilities

  • HR support
  • Provide guidance and advice to managers and employees on HR matters, including policies, procedures, and employee wellbeing. Possibly leading on disciplinaries, grievances, and conflict resolution, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Recruitment (possibly)
  • Participate in the recruitment processes, including advertising, interviewing, visa documentation, and safer recruitment compliance
  • Onboarding and induction
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new employee
  • Payroll & Administration
  • Ensure the accurate management of monthly payroll processes in collaboration with our payroll provider. Address employee payroll queries and maintain up-to-date HR records and forms.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures align with current employment law and sector requirements, updating documentation as needed.
  • Wellbeing Initiatives:

Develop and implement strategies to prioritise staff wellbeing, including projects, events, and tools to create a positive and supportive workplace culture.

  • A strong background in HR or in leadership within education or childcare sectors.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to support and motivate teams.
  • A thorough understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Outstanding organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Leadership qualities, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with care.
