We are welcoming applications for a PhD position in the DFG-ANR funded project Hydrothermal Economic Resources in Magmatic EnvironmentS (HERMES) . The PhD candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary working group focusing on geochemistry, magmatic petrology and economic geology. The PhD position is to be filled by March 1st 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter for a period of 3 years with possible extension of 6 months. Payment will be according to the German TV-L E to 75% scale.
- Fieldwork and sampling of magmatic rocks related to porphyry-epithermal systems in NE Greece
- Geochemical and geochronological study of magmatic rocks and accessory minerals
- Investigating the ore-forming potential of magmas in a tightly constrained chronological context during arc migration
- Studying the links between magmatic, tectonic and hydrothermal processes on porphyry-epithermal mineralisation in an established international research network
- Access to excellent analytical facilities: XRF, XRD, EPMA, LA-ICP-MS/MS, ICP-MS, MC-ICP-MS
- Research visits in international laboratories for geochronological studies
- Participation at national and international conferences
- Writing manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals as part of the PhD thesis
Notwendige Qualifikationen:
- Master of Science in Geosciences or a related field with a strong background in petrology, geochemistry and/or economic geology
- Very good skills in spoken and written English
- Preliminary experience in laboratory work and geochemical data interpretation
- Willingness to participate in field work in remote areas
Wünschenswerte Qualifikationen:
- Experience in mineral micro-analysis and analytical work in a cleanroom laboratory
