What's involved with this role: Rate is negotiable for the right candidatesInterim Physical Infrastructure Regeneration Principal LawyerReference no: MCC / 1Pay Rate: £40.00 per hour PAYE37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 2-3 monthsCity: MANCHESTERIdeally Hybrid 2 days per week in office, but can be flexible. Key Responsibilities:

Lead, supervise and motivate a team of lawyers, allocate and manage work to deliver projects, achieve targets and ensure optimum performance from team members. Effectively manage and organise personal caseload of complex legal matters.
Ensure positive personal and professional development of team members by tuition, personal example, strong leadership and effective performance management. Procure the delivery of relevant training to legal staff and clients in respect of specific subject related matters.
Proactively contribute to strategic, developmental and client related issues arising from management of the section and the wider group.
Able to effectively influence a range of stakeholders in order to achieve beneficial outcomes for the shared legal service.
Deputise effectively when required in dealings with clients, legal management, casework matters and attending and advising planning or other committees.
Build and maintain excellent client relations, providing timely and accurate legal and tactical advice together with case statistics, budget estimates and forward planning advice to all relevant stakeholders.
Demonstrate commercial acumen and judgement to support timely and high quality decision making and effective delivery of project outcomes
Demonstrate awareness of the wider corporate/public sector responsibilities inherent in the role and a clear desire to work cooperatively with others to deliver key organisational objectives.

Key requirements:

Solicitor with current practising certificate, Barrister who has completed pupillage or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent legal qualification
Knowledge and understanding of local government powers and governance.

Significant knowledge and practical experience in a number of the following areas of law:
A minimum 3 years post-qualification recent and relevant experience of dealing with planning, highways, compulsory purchase and regeneration matters.
Demonstrate an ability to quickly pick up new and emerging areas of law relevant to planning, highways, compulsory purchase, development and regeneration work.
