Job Description

To ensure the continued quality of care,we are looking for aPodiatrist to support us and the existing teams to work 1 x 4 hour session a week at HMP Pentonville and 1 x 4 hour session a month at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, both based in Warrington. There is no on-call or weekend work to allow for a strong work life balance!

You will be part of a forward thinking, innovative health care team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and mental health professionals, delivering high quality, best practice treatment. You will also form part of the wider MSK Health in Justice Team comprising of physiotherapists and podiatrists working in 33 prisons across the country. You will be closely supported and mentored by our Team Lead Podiatrist, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses, you will be provided with an excellent supportive learning environment.

Main duties of the job

This role requires the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the offender healthcare setting who may have complex and/or chronic presentation. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and clinical treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

With this in mind, you will be HCPC registered with post registration experience assessing and treating a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery. You will also be self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Pentonville prison is one of the largest and most well-known category B prisons with an operational capacity of 1200+. It services the local courts of North London and afield. HMP Wormwood Scrubs is category B remand prison with a maximum roll of 1279.
