Let us introduce the role

AWE is currently recruiting for a Pulsed Power Scientist to join a team that designs and develops pulsed power x-ray sources for flash radiography.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing modelling of electron beam diodes, and their associated ion beams and plasmas

  • Designing and conducting experiments to validate these models

  • Conducting performance analysis of existing Pulsed Power systems

  • Contributing to the further development of intense electron beam diode technologies

  • Providing expertise in the design of pulsed high voltage equipment

Who are we looking for?

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • A degree in Physics or STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge or working experience of pulsed power systems, electron beam transport or radiofrequency accelerating cavities

  • Knowledge or working experience of electromagnetic modelling codes e.g. Circuit Simulation, Particle in Cell or Radiation Transport

  • Able to provide technical input within own field of expertise that can influence project or team activity

Some reasons we think you'll love it here:

AWE has wide range of benefits to suit you. These include:

  • 9-day working fortnight - meaning you get every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.
