Your new company
Your new company is a Civil Engineering and Surfacing Contractor based in Nottinghamshire with a team of c75 consisting of 65 frontline operations. Primary work streams are local authority highway maintenance frameworks and wider LA scheme activity, and private developer civil / surfacing activity. The business has significantly grown over the last few years and the aim is to drive further growth through tendered LA schemes and commercial developments.
Your new role
The company would like a Quantity Surveyor to support their business development and wider commercial growth.
Duties / Key areas of responsibilities include:
- Conduct feasibility studies to vet proposed projects
- Price/forecast the cost of the different jobs and schemes
- Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
- Track job costs and identify any commercial risk
- Identify and manage Early Warnings
- Proactively manage Compensation Events
- Measure and value the work done on site
- Create applications
- Analyse ongoing and post-job performance
- Ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards
- Generate customer and work stream opportunity appraisals
- Develop market knowledge and source commercial job opportunities
- Create detailed reports
- Strong understanding of construction, material, and contract law
- Knowledge of / NEC experience
- Project management and budgeting skills
- Be able to work under your own initiative
- Can spot commercial opportunity
- CSCS card (desirable)
- Current full UK driving licence.
- Competent IT skills - Microsoft Packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 365.
