Quantity Surveyor (Data Centres) - UK Leading Building Services Contractor - Banbridge

Your new company
A prominent, multi-award-winning UK building services contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team, focusing on the Data Centre sector. Known as the contractor of choice and a leader in the UK Building Sector, they boast a turnover exceeding £60 million and consistently secure repeat orders for Data Centre projects ranging from £5M to £15M.
Your new role

  • Ensure the financial success of projects by controlling costs, progressing monthly valuations, and managing variations and change orders.
  • Collaborate with contracts, estimating, and pre-construction teams to fully understand each project scope.
  • Maintain awareness of different contract forms to protect the company throughout the project.
  • Review and compile subcontractor package awards.
  • Engage with subcontractors, handle negotiations, and prepare sub-contract documents.
  • Track and report monthly job performance to the QS Lead.
  • Prepare timely monthly valuations based on site measurements and work-in-progress reviews, ensuring payments are received as per contract conditions.
  • Vet and process monthly subcontractor payments.
  • Conduct at least one monthly site visit and report progress to management.
  • Attend monthly commercial meetings to update on contract negotiations and job performance.
  • Support commercial activities and provide advice to Project Managers as needed.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Third level qualification in a Surveying or Cost Engineering discipline or can demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar commercial role.
  • Commercially astute and ambitious.
  • Strong knowledge of different Forms of Contract; such as JCT, NEC & FIDEC.
  • High standard of organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & negotiation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong client engagement skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
