Researcher (m/w/d) English Linguistics

The FAU seeks to appoint one (65%) doctoral researcher for 2+1 years in English linguistics.
The researcher will be working at the Department of English and American Studies and will be part of an international team headed by Prof. Dr. Lotte Sommerer starting 1st of April 2025.
They will develop a PhD project in the following area:
Prepositions and Prepositional Phrases in English (empirical, corpus based, constructional project, either diachronic or synchronic)
- Design, carry out and publish PhD research
- Participate in conferences and summer schools
- Teach at undergraduate level (3 hours per week)
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the level and nature of the post (support the acquisition of third-party funding, help organize conferences and workshops, help team members with grading, research and administrative duties)
Notwendige Qualifikationen:
- An excellent MA in English Linguistics or General Linguistics
- Familiarity with usage-based, constructional models of language (CCxG)
- Experience in designing and carrying out corpus-based studies
- Good IT skills (Windows, Excel, )
- C2 in English
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Wünschenswerte Qualifikationen:
- Knowledge of German (A2 +)
- Familiarity with standard statistical tests and software (R Studio, Python)
