Chesterfield & Dronfield PCN are looking for enthusiastic (ARR) newly qualified GPs.
This fixed term role until 31 March 2025, will be based within a neighbourhood allowing you to get to know the practices and patients. We are also open to discussions from applicants in relation to working with the Ageing well Team. Extension of the role will depend on future ARRS funding.
You will undertake set clinics with the variety of usual general practice conditions, gaining support as required from more senior clinicians in practice. You will not have to undertake additional administrative duties other than those associated with your consultations.

- Conduct surgery and telephone consultations, addressing patient queries.
- Check, sign, and authorise prescriptions relating to consultations and associated queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other health care workers.
- Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed issues.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans in consultation with patients, in line with current disease management protocols.
- Admit or discharge patients from the caseload and refer them to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Participate in education and training offered by the PCN and practices.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible.
- Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary or generically, as clinically appropriate.
- Undertake emergency patient visits during surgery hours, if clinically indicated.
- Contribute to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Assist in the development of computer-based patient records.
Arc Primary Care is the umbrella organisation of the Primary Care Network (PCN) in Chesterfield and Dronfield. Arc Primary Care is an alliance of GP Practices.
We are a large, forward-thinking PCN made up of ten practices, that already successfully employs a wide variety of health professionals and pride ourselves on our friendly inclusive teams and practices. We deliver enhanced services within the PCN designed to support and enhance the services offered by our member GP Practices within Chesterfield. We do this by employing staff to work through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme and finding innovative and sustainable solutions to the changing needs of the Practices; we bid for contracts to help tackle health inequalities and drive up standards of care within the Chesterfield and Dronfield locality.

Job responsibilitiesIn accordance with the agreed PCN timetable, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including:
- Conduct surgery and telephone consultations, addressing patient queries, and potentially visiting patients at home although the PCN has a well-established Home visiting service.
- Check, sign, and authorise prescriptions relating to consultations and associated queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other health care workers.
- Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed issues.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans in consultation with patients, in line with current disease management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients from the caseload and refer them to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Participate in education and training offered by the PCN and practices.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible.
- Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary or generically, as clinically appropriate.
- Undertake emergency patient visits during surgery hours, if clinically indicated.
- Adhere to all relevant Practice policies and guidelines, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
- Commit to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practices.
- Contribute to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Assist in the development of computer-based patient records.
- Newly Qualified General Practitioner (with under 2 years from qualification)
- Registered General Practitioner (GMC)
- Current UK/EU Driving License
- Registered on local Performer's List
- Not previously been substantively employed at a GP Practice
- General understanding of the primary care contract
- Experience of working in a primary care environment
- Experience of continued professional development
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit
- Experience of using SystmOne/EMIS clinical systems
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients and external organisations.
- Ability to triage patients in order of clinical need.
- Effective communication, verbally and in writing.
- Understanding of local health and social care structures.
- UK Registration
- Ability to travel within the requirements of the role (reasonable adjustments will be made)
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS Check
- Appropriate Immunisation Status
