Job Description
Helston Medical Centre & Porthleven Surgery

We are looking for salaried GPs to work in our Helston and Porthleven surgeries and join our friendly and supportive team of 8 partners and 11 salaried GPs.

Competitive salary, indemnity paid and great parties.

6 weeks annual leave plus one week study leave.

A strong focus on training the next generation (medical students, F2s, and registrars).

Specialist clinics such as level 2 sexual health, drug misuse, and clinical research.

Main duties of the job
  1. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
  2. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
  3. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  4. Effective management of long-term conditions.
  5. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other associated administrative tasks.
  6. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
  7. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance.
  8. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
  9. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
  10. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
  11. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF.
  12. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
  13. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance, training, financial management, and HR.
  14. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
  15. Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
  16. Commit to self-learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
  17. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
About us

The role:

4-6 sessions per week; flexibility could be available for the right candidate.

SystmOne practice, using Ardens and Accurx.

Urgent care team offering support on duty days.

Reduction in appointments on some sessions to a max of 24 appointments for the day for a more sustainable workload. We are looking to increase this for all routine sessions.

Team of nurses/HCAs providing nurse-led chronic disease management.

Practice paramedics providing a visiting service.

PCN first contact physiotherapy, social prescribing link workers & mental health practitioner.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualified GP.
  • Full GMC registration and national performers list registration.
  • Eligibility to practice in UK independently.
Experience
  • Working in primary care.
  • CPD experience.
  • QOF and clinical audit.
