Job Description

We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic General Practitioners to join our team at Becontree Medical Centre.

Job Overview:

  • You will be using EMIS to manage patient care within our practice.

  • We are looking for a motivated, proactive GP with a strong commitment to patient care to join our forward-thinking and friendly Primary Health Care Team. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified GPs.
  • The role involves prioritising and coordinating your workload in collaboration with the team, including telephone and face-to-face consultations, reviewing laboratory results, conducting home visits, and managing walk-in patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses.
Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will depend upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations for Practice improvement
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
About us

Becontree Medical Centre is a General Practice Partnership open to all patients living within our Practice boundary area. We work in partnership with our patients and our Patient Group to provide medical care for over 7800 patients. We are a Standard Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) Practice offering Primary care services for the diagnosis and prevention of disease. We help patients to manage their health and prevent illness. Our GPs assess, diagnose, treat, and manage illness. They carry out screening for diseases and promote general health and well-being. Our GPs act as a patients advocate, supporting and representing a patients best interests to ensure they receive the best and most appropriate health and/or social care.

Job responsibilities

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the contract.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
  • Relevant experience of working independently in General Practice
  • DCH, DCCH and or DRCOG
