We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate or Associate Director Power Systems Engineer to join our firm. The role will be based in our London office.
To help support Hoare Lea in our continued development in our projects across the UK and Europe, the role will involve power systems analysis on HV, MV, and LV distribution for small and large-scale infrastructure and other project sectors.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Working on a varied portfolio of projects both in the UK and internationally.
- Undertaking design calculations for assessing electrical loads on buildings, sizing utility connections, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, and renewable technologies, together with associated earthing and distribution systems.
- Design and calculations of substations and points of connections from LV to HV.
- Load flow, fault level, G5/5 harmonic and protection studies.
- Earth rise touch and potential studies.
- Using a variety of software including CAD electrical ETAP, Amtech or EOM.
- Dealing successfully with clients and other professionals.
- Defining and agreeing brief.
- Contributing to the professional development of individual team members.
- Actively leading self and identifying opportunities and providing support for career development of others.
- Effectively delegating, managing, and checking work undertaken by others.
- Ensuring quality standards and technical accuracy is delivered.
What We Are Looking For:
- Conversant in power systems high voltage substation design, earthing arrangements, CT calculations, arc flash calculations, differential protection, and stability slopes.
- Experience in relevant design software, including ETAP or similar software and Amtech or EOM LV system analysis software.
- Power quality capability to undertake studies for G99 export applications, including harmonics.
- Ability to produce schematic designs, fault discrimination studies, preparing specifications and reports, and carrying out site inspections of surveys and detailed design development.
- Ability to carry out studies such as G5/5 harmonics, load flow, fault studies, transient studies, and protection coordination studies.
- Good communication skills.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Ability to train others on power systems and high-voltage design.
- European or Ireland Power systems experience is beneficial for this position.
