Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home.
This newly created role will act as the primary technical escalation point for our in-house support team, ensuring the delivery and maintenance of high service levels. It will also oversee and deliver IT-based projects, manage major incidents and coordinate penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced technical engineer, who can work independently, whist supporting a wider team to develop their knowledge and skills. Clear and confident communication skills are essential to build ongoing relationships and deliver high levels of customer service. Extensive experience in 3rd line support is essential.

Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical escalation point for the support team and provide 3rd line support services for AHDB to include basic SQL server support
Offer a comprehensive support service for all system users, including hardware, software, and peripheral equipment support, ensuring issue logging, problem diagnosis, and resolution in line with SLAs
Ensure compliance with procurement and security policies for all IT procurements and projects, whilst specifically leading on penetration test procurements and managing vulnerability scanning
Oversee major incident management and Windows patching compliance
Participate in product evaluation and selection exercises
Conduct systems administration tasks, including user account management, access rights configuration, print solutions, ad hoc backups and restores, and general housekeeping
Support and assist users with Microsoft Office365 and other core supported software
Implement Cyber Security changes as identified by the Security team or penetration tests in line with policy requirements
Execute change requests and project-based tasks as required and maintain infrastructure patches and baseline security levels
Contribute to a range of technology projects as required including costings and contribution to business case creation
Provide application packaging and support for SCCM and MECM
Maintain and monitor security controls and provide reports as required, to include management and testing of backups and DR plans
Ensure IT databases, registers and associated paperwork are accurate, complete, and maintained to required standards, and create and maintain documentation related to the role, including operational procedures

Essential Criteria
Extensive experience working in 3rd line support and project-based activity, and hold a relevant degree or technical qualification, or have substantial experience in this line of work
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Azure Stack, Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems (10 and 11), Microsoft Office365, Microsoft365 stack (E5 components), Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019 and 2022), Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft SQL Server
Further knowledge of enterprise security tools and techniques, ideally with additional experience in SCCM and MECM
Confident leading penetration test procurements and managing vulnerability scanning
Able to work independently and lead by example
Knowledgeable and experienced in incident management
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
