Senior Manager, Product & Technology Analytics


Introduction to team

Private Label Solutions (PLS) is the B2B arm of Expedia Group. We open up our supply and innovative technology to businesses looking to take on the world of travel. These businesses, sometimes referred to as our demand partners , include global financial institutions (e.g. AMEX), corporate managed travel, offline travel agents (e.g. Flight Centre), global travel suppliers (e.g. Delta) and many more.

PLS s Rapid API, White Label Template and TAAP products power end-to-end hotel booking functionality for the world s leading airlines, online travel agencies, and loyalty and membership programs. By providing access to over 700,000 properties across 250,000 destinations, Rapid enables partners to build a custom booking experience with easy integration, industry-leading supply, and competitive rates.

As Senior Manager, Product & Technology Analytics you will play a vital role in the future of our fast-growing B2B business. You will be part of the PLS Product & Tech Analytics team, guiding analytical thinking, contributing to the strategic direction, sizing revenue opportunities, and quantifying risks.

An established people leader who typically leads a team of advanced analysts. Delivers work for defined domain/capability areas. Collaborates with senior management and partnered product, development and data science partners to deliver a portfolio of work and a high-performing, well-managed and talented team.

You will help define our understanding of success drivers, evaluate performance, and lead analysis on traffic, conversion and revenue drivers with a detailed understanding of our partners business model, supply and industry trends.

You will work with various teams across the company, including product, marketing, data, engineering, strategy, finance, and other data science teams, to understand and improve the performance of our products.

You will manage a team of analysts and have the opportunity to own and develop new insights, drive new ways of working, build something innovative and be part of an international team.

The ideal candidate would have strong analytical & technical skills, commercial acumen and strong communication skills, and an interest in technology & travel!


In this role, you will:

  • Perform deep-dive analysis and statistical tests to get to the bottom of performance drivers for our partners, provide recommendations for improvements and quantify results
  • Build frameworks, create dashboards and design metrics to analyse performance and visualize insights
  • Participate in cross-divisional work partnering with Product and Tech teams representing analytics
  • Communicate analysis findings and recommendations to various levels including organization leadership and external partners
  • Represent the team in meetings, ensuring perspectives of the broader Analytics team are incorporated
  • Build an environment for team efficiency, where strengths are known and built upon and learning is shared to build capacity
  • Display advanced domain (i.e. travel, online retail) knowledge, understanding the underlying business objectives and critical reasoning skills
  • Ensure continuous improvements are made to our approach to diagnostics and storytelling
  • Communicate across various levels of the organization; able to influence partners and senior leaders with relevant information
  • As the most senior individual contributor in the team, raise the bar in prescriptive and predictive insights across product analytics, leading by example and coaching more junior analysts

Experience and qualifications:

Technical skills:

  • Excellent logical thinking, a very strong background (Bachelor s/Master s degree) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, economics, operations research, data science or similar and 7+ years of experience in industry or equivalent
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of data with demonstrated skills in understanding performance drivers, ideally in an API product environment
  • Possesses solid theoretical foundation and applies advanced statistical methods to a broad range of problems. Knows advanced experimental design
  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write SQL from scratch, and a good understanding of databases.
  • Experience with data visualization, preferably using Tableau
  • Firm understanding of revenue drivers and commercial environment

Communication / Project management / influencing:

  • Excellent verbal, written and data visualization skills with the ability to adapt storytelling skills and level of detail to different audiences.
  • Ability to present complex analysis in a format that is easily understandable for the target audience
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrable experience in managing projects with different functions (product, strategy, engineering, etc.), prioritizing among conflicting demands and being comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, conveying strategic and tactical needs to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Leadership:

  • 2-4 years of managing analytical teams including coaching and contributing to development talent planning.
  • Demonstrable experience in guiding and reviewing teams data-driven insights and recommendations to drive change or performance improvement for stakeholders through multiple projects using different analytics techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture
  • Promotes collaboration among team members. Encourages others to cooperate and coordinate efforts.
