Working as a core member of our Ports and Harbours team, you will partner with our clients to provide a diverse range of consultancy services ranging from marine risk studies through to vessel manoeuvring, port operations and marine governance services.


What you will be doing
  • Provide marine consultancy services to clients.
  • Undertake appropriate fee earning assignments and maintain own level of billable utilisation above 70%.
  • Assist with business development and marketing activities.
  • Generate leads and prepare proposals for Ports and Harbours consultancy.
  • Represent the Company to the ports and harbours market and to the legal / insurance market.
  • Support other areas of the business as appropriate relevant to your own skills, experience and expertise. These may include hull and machinery damage surveys, P&I condition and pre-entry surveys, expert witness, and other survey activities.
  • To be familiar with all aspects of ABL services and key deliverables.
  • Other related duties related to experience, as assigned.
  • Public speaking and authoring technical articles for publication on occasions.

This position will be based in the UK and the job holder must have the right to live and work in the UK. Regular travel will be required, both domestically and overseas, to attend client meetings and site visits.


What we are looking for

Ideally, you will have a proven background in Port or Harbour operations, particularly from a governance and compliance stand point. You might be a Harbour Master looking for a career change or a Consultant looking for a fresh challenge. More specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • Unlimited Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or sailed as Captain.
  • At least 10 years maritime experience.
  • Possess good knowledge of port operations and port management procedures.
  • At least 5 years work in a similar role or connected role (e.g. Harbour Master or Pilot).
  • Previous experience in a marine consultancy environment is advantageous.
