Job Description

BDP is a global architecture, engineering and design practice with 19 studios across the world.

We are seeking a Senior Wayfinding Consultant / Designer with experience working in all sectors of the built environment to join our team responsible for the design, development and implementation of our wayfinding and signage projects.

The position is based in our London studio.

You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to manage a project both face-to-face and through agile channels.

You will have a passion for designing engaging and inclusive design strategies for major buildings in the built environment which foster a sense of place and belonging, embraces culture and brand identities and enables our buildings, spaces and places to be understandable, easy to use and positively influence the employee and visitor experience.

As a senior designer you will be working with the Directors of the Interior Design team and with the wider project teams across various BDP offices, to deliver wayfinding and signage projects in a variety of sectors.

This will include projects in the healthcare, education, culture, sports and workplace environment. This includes early research, planning and conceptual design all the way through to the production of design intent drawings, specifications, message schedules and sign location plans.

The role requires that you:
  • Have an understanding of physical environments, architecture, urban design and interior design.
  • Generate and present concept and developed designs for client review and approval.
  • Create wayfinding strategy reports, including the development of sign information content systems.
  • Create sign message schedules, sign location plans and design intent drawings for tender and construction packages.
  • Prepare technical and performance specifications.
  • Be client facing and participate in design team and stakeholder meetings/presentations.
Key skills and qualifications:
  • BA or equivalent qualification in graphic, communication or information design.
  • Extensive experience in wayfinding and/or information design.
  • Expert user of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other 3D applications.
  • Experience of working with Autocad and/or Revit and Revit projects would be an advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge in Branding, Typography, UI/UX, Composition, Concept Development, and Presentations.
  • Previous experience of working in the architectural/built environment industry would be preferable.

  • Able to develop robust strategies for large public and corporate building and environments.
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines.
