The Role

As our Site Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that Aston Group's construction projects are completed safely, on time and within budget and according to relevant regulations and accreditations.

You will be expected to:

  • Set up the site before the start of the building project taking Health, Safety and Environmental into consideration.
  • Overall responsibility and ownership for the day to day running of the site.
  • Help manage the budget for the project throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor quality of work of all contractors involved in the project.
  • You'll also supervise sub-contractors and act as the point of communication for all Aston Group staff as well as the subcontractors involved in the project, from tradesmen and architects to the local council and the general public.
  • A crucial part of the job is ensuring on-site safety through risk assessment and risk management working with the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Liaise with both internal and external staff and sub-contractors to effectively quote, plan and deliver work/tasks
  • Work with colleagues and help to order material and equipment required for the project.
  • Produce reports on the status and performance of works under your responsibility.
  • Support the Contracts Managers with planning and delivery of larger projects.
  • You will deliver toolbox talks, site inductions etc. and ensure that the relevant members of your team attend these as well.
  • Always ensure compliance with the company's Health & Safety Policy and
    follow all related safe systems of work.
  • Complete all managerial duties i.e. Health and Safety, weekly reports and photos, reporting on progress against the project program. Driving short term lookahead programs.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 17:00 pm, and flexibility with working hours is essential as overtime will be required from time to time.

The Candidate
To be considered for our Site managerrole, you will have the following skills and experience:

Qualifications

  • NVQ in site management is preferred.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
  • Mechanical or Electrical qualifications would be an advantage.
  • CSCS
  • Scaffold Inspection and Asbestos Awareness
  • Experience with tenants in situ / occupied refurbishments would be an advantage.

Skills andExperience

  • At least 5 years' experience working for a main contractor as a site manager for Residential / New Build background
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, technology and materials,
  • Good IT skills in Ms Outlook, Ms Excel and Ms Word
  • Proficient at reading technical plans and drawings
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective professional working
    relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly organised with great influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to lead and work as part of a team
