We are now seeking a Solutions Architect to join our Transformation & Change Team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and a quick learner with a desire to develop in a friendly and supportive Insurance company. This is a great opportunity for someone to join an experienced team of ten, whilst building on their previous experience. This is a great time to join an evolving team where your input can really make a difference.

We also have a hybrid working model (minimum 2 days in the office).

Overall responsibility of the Role:

To lead the architecture function, ensuring resilient, scalable, and secure technology aligned with the Club's business strategy.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Alignment: Understand business drivers and capabilities, and translate them into effective enterprise system designs that drive targeted business outcomes.
  • Architectural Assessment: Continuously assess and document the current and future state of our architecture, ensuring alignment with SPL's roadmap and optimising our technology stack accordingly.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security measures and compliance controls throughout the architecture process, ensuring adherence to governance standards.
  • Solution Design: Design and document comprehensive solution architectures, including system components, interfaces, data flows, and integration points. Ensure these solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Risk Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring proactive issue resolution and minimising potential project disruptions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide clear guidelines and support to engineering, development, and deployment teams, ensuring successful implementation of architectural solutions.
  • Innovation & Modernization: Research and evaluate emerging technologies, recommending those that align with industry trends and project goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with business and IT stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business objectives and architectural solutions. Engage with third-party vendors to integrate and optimise solutions.
  • Azure Cost Management: Collaborate with the infrastructure team to review and optimise Azure spending, supporting the governance model for cost management.
Experience Required:
  • Expertise in architecture, with a strong grasp of how infrastructure, systems, data, and applications integrate to form solutions.
  • Extensive experience in Enterprise and IT Solutions Architecture, especially within the Insurance sector.
  • Qualified Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, and a deep understanding of the Solutions Architect's role within Agile projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the London Insurance Market, including its practices, processes, regulatory environment, and stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of insurance systems, particularly in the London Insurance Market, and expertise in ongoing and planned change initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure technologies, modern data platforms, and Business Intelligence technologies.
  • Experience with .NET, Angular, and Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Ability to work with developers in an in-and-out outsourced environment.
