Studentische Hilfskraft für Datenanalyse / Literaturrecherche (m/w/d)

The student assistant will contribute to the project "Academic Freedom Index: An Innovative Resource for Research and for Protecting Freedom in the Academic Sector", funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. This project contributes to one of the largest social science data collection projects on democracy in the world, the In addition to updating our world-wide data on an annual basis, we investigate the determinants and consequences of changes in academic freedom, as well as states tactics in capturing the academic space. Further information about the project can be found here: . The student assistant may also help with additional research or teaching tasks, as required.

Under direct supervision of Dr. Angelo Panaro and with support by Prof. Dr. Katrin Kinzelbach, the student assistant will be closely integrated into the team, gaining practical experience in political science research.

Notwendige Qualifikationen:

• Conduct systematic literature review;

• Support data analysis and data preparation;

• Support the preparation of outreach activities;

• Assist with organizational tasks.

Wünschenswerte Qualifikationen:

• Knowledge of/ interest in empirical social science research methods;

• Expertise in quantitative methods and/or knowledge of the post-Soviet space is an asset;

• Very good English language skills; additional languages are an asset;

• Interest in academic freedom, human rights, and autocratization/democratization;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Citavi, R/RStudio, or STATA is an asset;

• Attention to detail, good organizational skills and reliability.
