Support Worker - Learning Disabilities & Autism / Acquired Brain Injuries
What you'll need to succeed

Physical Circumstances:
Prepared to undertake a variety of shifts including sleeping in/waking night duties as necessary.Able to undertake agreed moving & handling techniques as necessary.Able to work flexibly when necessary.Able to travel to a variety of venues to provide care and support, and to attend training.Prepared to smoke (if applicable) in the designated smoking areas only and will comply with 'No Smoking' Policy and procedures.Able to work in an environment that fosters independence and life skills and provide the high level of physical support therein.Be prepared to undertake social and leisure activities that are physical in nature.Able to undertake Physical Interventions, as agreed and only if absolutely necessary.

Your new role
The aim is to provide the best possible support to clients with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and/or Acquired Brain Injuries, enabling them to reach their full potential. This involves promoting a person-centred approach to support planning, monitoring, and reviewing their needs and wishes. The service strives to operate effectively within the requirements and expectations of supported living regulations, contractual responsibilities, Health & Safety laws, and standards set by bodies such as the CQC and Local Authorities, helping clients lead fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist service users with personal care, medication needs, and access to appropriate healthcare services.
- To provide comprehensive care and support tailored to each individual's assessed needs and requirements as outlined in their Support Plan.
- To help service users participate in meaningful daytime activities, leisure pursuits, and attend necessary appointments and meetings. Encourage the use of community facilities where suitable.
- To assist service users with managing their finances as agreed.
- To support service users in maintaining and developing various relationships, including those with family, friends, and professionals.
- To aid service users with daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, gardening, laundry, ironing, and other household chores to an acceptable standard.
- To help service users develop social skills and promote their independence where appropriate.
- To ensure all documentation within the service users' homes, such as Daily Notes, is accurately maintained.
- To support service users in making decisions and being accountable, ensuring decisions are made in their best interest.
- To ensure service users are protected from harm and exploitation. While not all risks can be eliminated, known risks should be managed with appropriate strategies, acknowledging that unknown risks may still arise due to the complex and unpredictable nature of those we support.
- To provide high-quality support that encourages positive behaviour and well-being.
