Organizational Setting

The Division of Energy Planning and Nuclear Information and Knowledge comprises the Planning and Economic Studies Section, Nuclear Knowledge Management Section, and the Nuclear Information Section. The Division is responsible for strengthening capacities in energy and nuclear power planning, building capacities to manage nuclear knowledge, and developing the nuclear workforce.

Main Purpose

As a member of a team reporting to the Head of the Nuclear Knowledge Management Section, the Technical Lead (Knowledge and Human Capacity Building) guides, coordinates, and supervises IAEA's projects in the area of knowledge management and human resource development in the nuclear industry.

Role

The Technical Lead (Knowledge and Human Capacity Building) is a:

  1. Programme planner and implementer, planning, developing, and implementing activities aimed at helping States enhance their nuclear energy programme;
  2. Scientific secretary, planning and leading complex Technical Meetings;
  3. Technical and project officer, evaluating complex technical cooperation (TC) projects in the area of management and human resource development in the nuclear industry.
Functions / Key Results Expected
  • Plan, guide, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of activities in the field of knowledge management and human resource development in accordance with Member States' needs.
  • Coordinate the provision of specialized technical input to technical cooperation projects and provide technical guidance.
  • Broaden and deepen the field of knowledge by organizing scientific meetings and serving as scientific secretary.
  • Maintain the high standing and recognition of the IAEA in the scientific community by representing the IAEA at national and international meetings.

Required Expertise
  • Nuclear Engineering - Sound knowledge of developments and principles relating to human resource management for organizations responsible for nuclear facilities.
  • Nuclear Engineering - Experience in leadership development within nuclear organizations.
  • Nuclear Engineering - Expertise in the management of nuclear organizations and projects.
  • Nuclear Engineering - Deep knowledge of workforce planning processes.
Qualifications, Experience and Language Skills

Master's Degree in engineering, management, or a related field in human resource development.

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, management, or a related field with two years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Minimum 10 years of recent relevant experience in nuclear power, including international experience.

Excellent oral and written command of English; knowledge of other official IAEA languages is an asset.
