The role

As the Tender Engineer Asset and Maintenance Management at Damen Naval's Proposals Department you are responsible for the conceptual and contract design of the Integrated Asset and Maintenance Support plan for our deal-winning tender package's related to the build of state-of-the-art naval vessels. In military terms your domain is recognized as Integrated Logistics Support (ILS). Working as a member of the multidisciplinary tender (project) team, you work closely with internal and external stakeholders to create a commercially viable and attractive proposition. You have a winning mentality, combined with excellent numerical and digital insights as it involves complex solutions. You are also a gifted writer, able to substantiate your figures and solutions in a compelling and convincing document, set to win over the customer. After a successful tender, you are responsible for a smooth transition of your work towards our (ILS) engineering and service departments for further detailed engineering and realization.

Key accountabilities

As the Tender Engineer Asset and Maintenance Management, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver the complete Integrated Asset and Maintenance Support tender package, comprised of technical documents, Integrated Logistics Support specifications and contract specifications, written in a compelling and deal-winning format and lay-out.

  • Contribute to requirements analysis, ensuring all required specifications are drafted and understood by the internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support quotation (RFQ) processes and evaluations within the tender team and towards (sub-)suppliers for purposes of preliminary (sub-)supplier selection, budget allocation and cost-estimation.

  • Participate in discussions with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders on the technical and commercial aspects of the proposed Asset and Maintenance Support (and/or Integrated Logistic Support - ILS) solutions.

  • Support the evaluation of costs provided by external and internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering and service departments to optimize project outcomes.

Skills & experience

To excel as the Tender Engineer Asset and Maintenance Management, you have the following qualifications and qualities:

  • At least one year of experience in writing deal-winning tender packages, preferably for complex manufacturing, maintenance or (naval)shipbuilding tenders.
  • Excellent writing skills, able to deliver compelling text, figures and calculations encompassing very specific technical details and specifications.
  • A commercial mind-set to deliver viable yet attractive financial forecasts and propositions.
  • Bachelor (or Master) degree, required to handle complex data from variant sources in the field of Asset and Maintenance Management, Technical and Logistics Services or Asset Life Cycle Support.
  • Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal, preferably also Dutch command (or willingness to learn).
  • Willingness to travel abroad occasionally.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
