Job Description

Salary - Voluntary, non- remunerated. Expenses paid

Main duties and responsibilities

As a trustee you are expected to attend board meetings (at least four a year), at the London Campus (attendance online being an option for some meetings) and to be an active member of board committees (where relevant) in addition to attendance at the AGM. Trustees bring expertise in specialist areas to support the work of the organisation. By either chairing or as a member of a sub-committee you will work with fellow Trustees and staff to overview specific areas such as higher education, finance, people, marketing, and IT.

Main duties and responsibilities of all trustees/ the Board

To ensure that the Charity:

- complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document; and- uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives. To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' by giving firm strategic direction, defining goals, and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets whilst adhering to the directions set by the EESC;

To work with the UK Dean and the Board of Trustees to oversee the effective delivery of the London campus' strategy in alignment with the EESC Group strategy; To ensure that the Charity complies with all applicable legislation, the requirements of the Office for Students and any other relevant authority; To oversee the proper financial management of the Charity and to protect and manage its property and investments; To ensure that the Charity has appropriate policies and practices in place in respect of the employment of its staff and engagement of its students within a safe, productive and nurturing academic environment; To connect the organisation with appropriate stakeholders as and when appropriate; To represent the organisation and its vision; To safeguard the good name and values of the Charity;As part of the Board to appoint the UK Dean and monitor her/his performance; and To observe the Charity's Scheme of Reserved and Delegated Matters principles as far as the Board of Trustees' assigned responsibilities are concerned.

Main duties and responsibilities of higher education trustees To contribute and when appropriate lead board discussions and thinking of the latest development with the higher education sector as it could impact the Charity in areas such as:

Development of the student and staff voice, experience and wellbeing; Quality assurance; Student outcomes including continuation, progression and completion; Development of appropriate academic/educational offering; Development of high-quality academic activities (teaching and research).
