About the Role:

The Head of Regulatory is responsible for ensuring our products' safety and planning for and coordinating the implementation of any changes that might be required to comply with existing and emerging industry regulations. This person will ensure the appropriate systems and mechanisms are in place to effectively implement current and upcoming regulatory compliance measures, develop and implement a robust, industry-leading safety testing program, and support the attainment of required compliance documentation to support product registration globally.

The ideal candidate is a leader in the regulatory industry who brings external insight and knowledge to advance OLAPLEX safety and compliance. They are active members of leading trade associations (e.g., PCPC) and bring deep regulatory expertise from the cosmetic industry.

Responsibilities:
  • Formalize and document OLAPLEX's regulatory compliance and product safety testing program, including policies, procedures, and other related documentation, to ensure evidence adherence to and alignment with global laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proactively report on emerging developments and regulatory affairs via an effective global surveillance program, including the introduction of new legislation that is important to OLAPLEX's strategic decisions.
  • Partner closely with R&D formulation teams and alert them of regulatory considerations for newly developed and existing products.
  • Develop timely solutions to address regulatory matters throughout the product life cycle.
  • Create a raw materials database for systematic checks of all current and new raw materials to ensure regulatory compliance and safety guidance for usage/country/percentage.
  • Oversee and participate in country registration with distributors and third-party certifiers.
  • Oversee and participate in reviewing, revising, and approving artwork and marketing materials to ensure global regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and develop Regulatory Affairs Specialist and Sr. Manager Product Safety team members.
  • Represent OLAPLEX at various industry trade associations (e.g., PCPC) to ensure proper knowledge of and representation on scientific, regulatory, and international matters.
  • Report findings to cross-functional team members on a regular basis.
  • Oversee and lead OLAPLEX'S adverse event reporting program, adhering to FDA and global requirements.
  • Review third-party manufacturers to ensure products meet applicable regulatory requirements (MOCRA, other).
About You:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline, with 15+ years of progressive experience and 8+ years of progressive leadership experience (PhD preferred).
  • Relevant regulatory affairs and product safety expertise in the cosmetic (across beauty categories), OTC, or consumer/personal health care industries and/or pharmaceutical industries, with a global vision of the profession.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in preparing and submitting complex regulatory documents (e.g., INDs, NDAs, IDEs, PMAs, 510(k)s, and/or any other major regulatory submissions).
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex regulatory-related RA requirements and initiatives for key business target audiences.
  • Proven leader with a strong results orientation, positive "hands-on" attitude, and a sense of urgency to get things done with demonstrated grace and even temperament under pressure.
Our Total Rewards:

The annual base pay for this position is $250,000-290,000 with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, years of relevant experience, skill level, functional expertise, certificates or other professional licenses held and geographic location.
