We are now looking for individuals from an oil well background with drilling expertise to retrain as Well Engineering & Operations Inspectors and join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

You'll be supported through a Specialist Training Programme (STP) to gain the skills and expertise to become a Well Engineering & Operations Inspector. You will enrol on the STP and undertake a combination of study, practical experience and a final assessment ensuring you are equipped to operate at the forefront of your specialist area.

The Role
As a Well Engineering & Operations Inspector, after completing our Specialist Training Programme, you will ensure safe well engineering and operational practices across onshore and offshore oil and gas activities.
Specifically, you will provide expert advice on health and safety matters within well engineering, drilling, and other well operations to colleagues across HSE, the industry and other stakeholders.
You will perform inspections for onshore and offshore well operations, assess safety cases and, as part of the offshore safety case permissioning regime, inspect combined operations notifications from a well engineering and operations perspective.
Additionally, you will:
- Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints
- Support enforcement action
- Help to develop industry standards and guidance
Please note, enrolment in the Specialist Training Programme (STP) is a legal requirement that you will be required to study for and successfully complete.
About You
To be considered as a Well Engineering & Operations Inspector, you will need:
- At least two years' experience managing technical projects in well engineering, including planning and managing drilling operations at a senior level
- Experience with risk assessment and risk management tools
- Knowledge of well servicing operations and the ability to work across technical disciplines
- A proven ability to influence change and identify gaps in risk management practices
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering or earth science discipline OR substantial well engineering and operations experience in an operational environment within the upstream offshore oil and gas industry
- A full, valid driving licence
