Duration: 12 Months, This would suit a LTD company contractor operating outside IR35.

As we expand our design team, we are looking for a skilled 3D Piping CAD Designer proficient in SmartPlant 3D or PDMS to support the creation of detailed piping designs and 3D site layouts for various industrial projects.

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced 3D Piping CAD Designer with expertise in SmartPlant 3D or PDMS to design, draft, and model complex piping systems. This role involves producing detailed 3D piping site layout drawings, as well as generating piping material lists directly from a built-in database within the 3D software. Experience in setting up and administering the piping classes database to ensure seamless integration of materials, specifications, and components will be an advantage.

As part of our design team, you will collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that all piping layouts and models meet technical requirements and comply with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop 3D piping layouts using SmartPlant 3D or PDMS software, ensuring accurate site layout and system integration.
• Produce detailed 3D piping models and site layout drawings, ensuring that all components are correctly specified and aligned with project requirements.
• Generate materials lists directly from the integrated database within the 3D software, ensuring that all piping specifications (e.g., pipe types, sizes, fittings, valves) are accurate and comply with design standards.
• Administer, configure, and set up the piping classes database to ensure it aligns with project specifications and facilitates accurate material generation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review and refine piping design, ensuring that designs integrate with other systems effectively.
• Maintain strict adherence to industry codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, and relevant project-specific requirements.
• Produce fabrication drawings and technical documentation, ensuring clarity and precision for construction and assembly teams.
• Support project teams with on-site visits, gathering data and insights to refine piping designs and layouts.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure that designs are completed within project timelines and budgets.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in SmartPlant 3D and/or PDMS software for 3D piping design and layout.
• Demonstrated experience in generating materials lists from a database built into the 3D software.
• Experience in setting up and administering piping classes databases to manage piping components, materials, and specifications effectively.
• Extensive knowledge of piping specifications, material selection, and industry construction standards.
• Familiarity with various piping systems, components, and layout principles.
• Experience with piping design in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, or construction.
• Ability to produce accurate 3D models and ensure detailed material take-offs from integrated software databases.
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to troubleshoot issues related to database management and 3D model integration.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to deadlines and project constraints.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with SmartPlant 3D or PDMS in 3D piping design and database integration.
• Strong technical background in piping layout design and preferably material database management.
• Familiarity with additional CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) is advantageous.
• Experience with setting up and administering piping classes databases will be highly beneficial.
