Job Description

We are looking for exceptional people to join the Wessex Garages Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship programme in Kia - Feeder Rd, Bristol

The Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship is geared towards training the next generation of fully-fledged Vehicle Technicians. But what does a Vehicle Technician actually do?

Vehicle Technicians are trained in all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features. The duties of a Vehicle Technician may include:

  • Servicing vehicles - carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers
  • Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components
  • Communicating with the Service Advisors about required repairs
  • Producing time estimates
  • Maintaining repair and service records

Training:

You will be working with highly experienced Technicians where you will have the opportunity to learn and develop essential skills allowing you to be hands on from an early stage in your career.

Training will be provided by a government approved provider. Training delivery will be delivered using day release or assessor site visits. The Programme lasts for at least 36 months and you'll achieve a nationally recognised qualification; Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) at Level 3.

  • Day release delivery, learner spends one day per week at training provider premises.
  • Assessor visit delivery, learner carries out majority of learning at place of work, supported by online tuition, assessor visits to site and occasional days at training provider premises

Qualifications:

  • GCSE or equivalent English 4 (Equivalent to a C) (Desired)
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths 4 (Equivalent to a C) (Desired)

Desired skills:

Communication skills, IT skills, Team working, Attention to detail, Proactive, Initiative, Manual Skills, Driving Licence (advantageous)

Future progression

To become a fully qualified Vehicle Technician and secure a full-time role as permanent member of the team.
