Are you ready to lead a team that cares for some of the most fascinating marine creatures?
Join us as a Displays Supervisor at SEA LIFE London Aquarium, where your passion for marine life and leadership skills will drive the team to new heights!
What's involved?
As our Displays Supervisor, you'll lead and develop a team of Aquarists, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, husbandry, and display excellence. You'll oversee everything from managing life support systems, to acquiring new marine animals ethically, and ensuring our visitors are wowed by the beauty and vibrancy of our exhibits. Plus, you'll have the chance to roll up your sleeves and dive into creative conservation projects that underpin the SEA LIFE mission.
Your day-to-day will involve:
• Supervising the daily operations of our displays, including the health and safety of animals • Managing and developing your team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, care, and innovation • Collaborating on animal acquisitions, transport, and quarantines, while meeting SEA LIFE's ethical standards • Being a key player in animal husbandry and life support system maintenance • Project managing new display developments, delivering fresh and exciting experiences for our guests
This is a full-time permanent role with 40 hours per week on a rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays. This role will also include the need to be on site after hours.
Qualifications & Experience
• You'll have significant experience in the aquarium industry, with expertise in aquatic animal husbandry and life support systems. • Ideally, you'll hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant field • A PADI Rescue Diver qualification or above (desirable) • Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and manage the Displays team. • A creative mindset for developing engaging, educational exhibits. • A keen understanding of zoo licensing and aquarium industry regulations is also required.
Benefits
As well as great opportunities for training and development you'll also receive:
• Salary £33,475 p.a • 25 days Holiday (including bank holidays), plus additional days off for volunteering • Annual Rail season ticket loan • 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% off LEGO online • Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year • Enjoy the Ride Pass - giving you and 5 others a Merlin Annual Pass (Gold Edition) • Employee pricing up to 55% off cinema tickets
At Merlin we welcome the world to our magical attractions and resorts every day and we want to reflect that same multicultural mix inside our business too. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse workplace where people can be themselves, have the same opportunities and thrive together. Because at Merlin, everyone matters!
Together, we work to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, no matter their age, race, gender, disability or sexual orientation. Although we understand that we'll always be learning and growing, we aim to be the most inclusive and flexible employer in our industry.
