Salary up to £65,000 DOE

Our Aspire Clinical Programme is a unique and transformative development opportunity for our veterinary surgeons. This programme offers funding and support for a BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate, complemented by extensive clinical mentoring from one of our clinicians, dedicated time in Years 2 and 3 to gain experience at our tertiary or mid-tier referral sites, and additional training and support in quality improvement.

Joining Plymouth Veterinary Group as a vet surgeon on the Aspire programme will equip you with the support you need to fully benefit from internal medicine certification and to advance your career, knowledge, and skills.

Participants will receive:
  1. Funding support: Financial assistance for a BSAVA Postgraduate Certificate.
  2. Clinical mentorship: Personalised mentoring from an experienced clinician to guide your learning journey.
  3. Dedicated practical experience: Opportunities in Years 2 and 3 to work at our tertiary or mid-tier referral sites, offering hands-on experience in advanced clinical settings.
  4. Quality improvement training: Additional resources and training in quality improvement to ensure comprehensive professional development.

As part of the Aspire programme, you will work towards a PGCert SAM in Internal Medicine. Strengthen your medical knowledge, enhance clinical reasoning, and refine your approach to diagnosing and managing a variety of medical conditions seen in small animal practice. This module is perfect for veterinary surgeons looking to gain a deeper understanding of internal medicine and improve outcomes for their patients.

The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of medical disciplines, including endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, and gastroenterology. You will engage in interactive case-based learning, seminars with leading medical specialists, and practical workshops that emphasize real-world application. In addition, there is a focus on communication skills, preparing you to discuss complex diagnoses and treatment options clearly with clients. By the end of the qualification, you will be able to approach medical cases with a more structured and confident methodology.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. Employed by IVC Evidensia for a minimum of 6 months.
  2. Evidence of prior commitment to IVC Evidensia and passion for the Internal Medicine discipline.
  3. CPD record: Evidence of up-to-date CPD record, including reflections.
  4. Minimum 2 years qualified and VetGDP completion.
  5. Minimum working hours: 30 hours.

At our other centres around Plymouth, we provide a daytime service with an appointment system for consultations and routine operations.
