Position: Asset Manager

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Experience required: 8-12 Years

Must-Have:

Asset Discovery:

• Identifying all assets, including those that may be unknown or unmanaged.

Asset Inventory:

• Creating and maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all assets.

Vulnerability Management:

• Identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in assets. Also including below,

Conduct regular vulnerability scans:

• Use automated tools to identify potential weaknesses in systems and software.

Assess the severity and potential impact of vulnerabilities:

• Determine the likelihood of exploitation and the potential damage.

Use vulnerability databases:

• Reference databases like the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) to stay informed about known vulnerabilities.

Configuration Management:

• Ensuring assets are properly configured and patched.

Compliance Management:

• Helping organizations meet regulatory requirements.

Risk Assessment:

• Evaluating the security risks associated with assets.

Continuous Monitoring:

• Tracking assets in real-time to detect anomalies and unauthorized changes.

Service management:

• Focuses on the lifecycle of IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses and network resources covering below as well, Ensuring compliance with software licensing agreements.
• Managing assets from procurement to retirement, including deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Monitoring asset performance and making data-driven decisions to control costs and improve efficiency.

Good-to-Have:

• Strong Cyber Incident Management background.
• Exceptional communication skills and experience dealing with senior leadership and technical stakeholders.
• Detailed technical knowledge of Vulnerability Management and Threat Intelligence as supporting capabilities is essential.

Statement of Work:

• Asset Management operates through a Cyber Security Asset Management (CSAM) solution, which helps map the criticality, responsibility, and accountability of technical assets. The service builds a link between technical assets and business applications, ensuring proper management and visibility of assets that support Incident and Vulnerability Management. This provides a complete overview of its assets to manage their lifecycle and ensure they are protected and accounted for.

• IT asset management is a critical component of incident analysis, incident response, vulnerability management and compliance management in a CSOC.

• The operational tasks that flow out of this process and performed are:

(a) Find gaps in the asset database and identify teams accountable and responsible.

(b) Update the security asset database with records or information provided by the teams

(c) Build relations between assets when applicable, for example via the Firewall process

(d) Report on: The accuracy of the data in the Security Asset Database, the identified gaps, the actions (tickets) created to close these gaps and their latest status, Long-pending actions and the responsiveness of the teams.

• Engage on a regular basis with the different teams to:

(a) Identify gaps and request the needed information

(b) Create and update records if changes were identified

(c) Document sub-processes per team if applicable

(d) Identify potential integrations between asset databases for future automation

(e) Identify potential missing scans from the automated scanning tool

(f) Create actions (tickets) for the different teams to provide requested data (g) Track the progress of the actions and request regular updates of the teams to close the gaps.
