Job Description

Prophis Technologies Limited is a consulting firm dedicated to supporting clean energy companies, particularly in the hydrogen and solar sectors, through a spectrum of technology-driven management, analytical, and operational services. We are based in Soho Works at the iconic BBC Television Centre in White City, London.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to play a valuable role for the companies we support as well as for Prophis. This position will involve understanding the details of financial transactions and ensuring accurate bookkeeping, using NetSuite and Xero.

This will be a hybrid job but will more often be remote than in-person at Soho Works. It's anticipated that in-person work will be greater at the start of the role and over time will become required much less.

Hours will vary but are expected to range from 10-20 hours per week. Timing of work will also be flexible. As you begin to work more with our clients in the US, afternoons (and evenings if you prefer) will be most helpful.

Beyond the core accounting responsibilities, there are other company administrative projects that will arise and you would be expected to help out with or take responsibility for. Some of that will involve VAT / HMRC / Companies House reporting in the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements (primarily Ramp corporate cards).
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements and reports.
  • Handle related administrative duties for Prophis.
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, NetSuite or similar) is essential, and experience with complex accounting software (i.e. other than Quickbooks and Xero) will be valued.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting for manufacturing and inventory.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients and team members.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation
  • Salary: £15-25 per hour
  • Hours: 10-20 per week
