Role: Biomedical Scientist - POCT (Point of Care Testing)
Site: HCA Laboratories - Shropshire House, 10a Capper St, London WC1E 6JA
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to work in our Point of Care Testing department (POCT) which includes blood and urine testing performed in the clinical setting by patient-facing healthcare professionals, typically nurses and doctors.

What you will do:

1. Work with the POCT team, colleagues in HCA Laboratories and HCA Facilities to deliver a safe and effective POCT service.
2. Carry out the training and development requirements throughout all aspects of POCT operations and activities.
3. Support to attain and maintain UKAS accreditation of the POCT services, liaising with all organisational departments.
4. Contribute to the POCT service in line with HCA POCT policy.
5. Be expected to work autonomously, whilst maintaining clear lines of communication with the POCT team.
6. Develop and maintain good working relationships with HCA and non-HCA colleagues.
7. Liaise with POCT suppliers regarding significant device failures, training or consumable stock issues.
8. Participate in the delivery of the training programme for POCT.
9. Respond to frequent queries from POCT service users by telephone, email and in person.
10. Treat all users of the service in an efficient and courteous manner.

What you will bring:

1. HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
2. Experience of working in a team.
3. Evidence of Continual Personal Development.
4. Experience of working within a pathology laboratory setting.
5. Understanding of quality assurance procedures and troubleshooting quality failures.
6. Some knowledge of verification procedures for laboratory equipment.
7. Participation in ISO:15189 laboratory accreditation.
8. Good planning, organisational and presentation skills.
9. Experience of training of laboratory colleagues.
10. Experience of producing laboratory and/or training documentation.
