Job overviewWe are inviting applications from enthusiastic and experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologists/Family Therapists/Clinical Nurse Specialists for a Band 8a post in our ARFID Team, as part of our eating disorders service for children and young people. Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will provide a specialist service including assessment, treatment, monitoring of outcomes and the provision of clinical supervision, consultation and training. The post holder will also contribute to service evaluation, research and policy development. There are many opportunities available within the service in relation to continued professional development.
Key responsibilities:
- To provide specialist psychotherapeutic/clinical intervention services to the MCCAED ARFID team including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a specialist in eating disorders in children and young people.
- To work as an autonomous professional within BPS, HCPC and other professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service.
- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training)/Family Therapy/Mental Health Nursing that has been accepted by the relevant body for professional registration.
- Additional training in a specialised area of clinical practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses, or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice.
- Completed training course in clinical supervision/obtained qualification in nursing mentorship scheme.
- Registered with the relevant registering body and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the registering body.
- Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist under supervision in eating disorders.
- Experience of supervising more junior staff and/or trainees having completed the relevant training.
- Experience of working with children and adolescents with ARFID and their families.
- Experience of working with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders and their families.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised clinical assessments and interventions for ARFID.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
- Understanding and knowledge of child protection procedures and safeguarding.
- Understanding and knowledge of CAMHS care pathways within the NHS.
- To deliver clinical interventions across cultural and other differences.
- To communicate skilfully and sensitively complex and sensitive information with clients, carers and colleagues.
- To plan and schedule assessment and interventions for individual clients and groups and carers, and for meetings such as CPAs and case reviews.
- Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of audit or research data.
- Skills in providing consultation to other teams/professionals/trainees.
- Skills in delivering CBT with young people.
- Skills in delivering behavioural interventions with young people.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic meetings.
- Ability to manage emotionally stressful situations such as working with victims of abuse or trauma.
- Ability to work with young people with neurodevelopmental diverse groups.
