Job Description

phagos is deploying a global solution against the antibiotic resistance pandemic. We fight ever evolving infections with ever-evolving medicines using ML, GenAI, and optimised microbiology.

We are entering a period of rapid growth and are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. As we expand our operations, your role will be critical in scaling our financial infrastructure and ensuring we continue to meet our business objectives.

The CFO will be a key player in shaping the financial strategy of the company, driving financial planning, and managing investor relationships. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in high-growth companies, preferably in biotech or a related field, and a deep understanding of financial operations, capital raising, and scaling businesses.

The CFO will work closely with the founders to ensure the company is well-positioned for continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Strategy & Planning: Develop and lead the company's financial strategy, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
  2. Financial Reporting: Oversee all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, analysis, and controls to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
  3. Capital Management: Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and stakeholders. Prepare and present financial data to the board and investors, ensuring transparency and clarity in all financial communications.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Optimize financial operations and processes to support the company's growth, including accounting, auditing, cash flow, and tax compliance.
  5. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, including those related to cash flow, regulatory compliance, and international operations.
  6. Fundraising: Lead future fundraising efforts as the company continues to scale, including equity financing, debt management, and grant opportunities.
  7. Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and requirements, including audits and tax filings.
  8. General Legal Overview: Lead legal, regulatory, commercial, and financial contracting.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior finance leadership role, preferably in biotech, healthcare, or high-growth startups.
  2. Strong understanding of corporate finance, financial planning, and capital markets.
  3. Experience in fundraising (Series A and beyond) and managing investor relations.
  4. Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and risk management.
  5. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Bilingual in French and English.
  7. Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA/CPA is a plus).
  8. Experience managing international financial operations is a plus.
