Job Description

What's next?

North Kesteven is a council that is going places. We have a long track record of success, with our team ethos driving the way we work, and the things we achieve for our communities. In a time when councils are struggling, we are supporting the building of several hundred homes for our residents, developing a new business park to bring prosperity to our area and developing ground-breaking ambitions that are pushing us to follow the right path, supporting our colleagues, residents and communities.

Our climate ambitions are our 'green thread' and underpin everything we do. This is a vision that we are committed to supporting in our day-to-day activities. We are actively retrofitting our homes, making the local plan compatible with climate ambitions and supporting the regeneration of our area. We have the support of our Members on this, ensuring the priorities of our residents come first as we actively look to make places better as well as making better places. We are also committed to moving to a preventative model of health and wellbeing. Our journey has just started, but over the next five years, we will use our partnerships to develop our housing, inclusive economic and employment offerings, physical activity, and use of art to support our communities. There is a potential for commissioning strategies to drive into the preventative work, and our new Chief Executive will be at the forefront of this work.

With so much success and a fantastic set of ambitions for the future, we want to know what's next. We are looking for a new Chief Executive to guide us on this journey and build on the great foundation that has already been laid.

About the role

Our current Chief Executive has already created a solid path for the council. Our services are operating well, but we want to know how North Kesteven can be taken further and be even more ground-breaking. This is your opportunity to join a council that has a great team ethos; working with great people to deliver great outcomes for our communities. A council that invests in its people as demonstrated by our Investors in People (IIP) gold accreditation. As our Chief Executive, you have the chance to work in partnership with Members to provide the leadership, vision and strategic direction to the council. Building on our health and wellbeing ambitions, you will regularly engage with our internal and external partners to nurture and grow these important relationships. This is a cross-cutting role, as we are excited to see how you will provide clear direction for the management of the council's human, financial and other resources, helping us to continue to be a caring and responsible employer for our fantastic team. You will also have the incredible opportunity to act as an advocate for the communities of North Kesteven, working in partnership with them to address their needs and aspirations, whilst raising awareness for the issues our rural communities face.

About you

Are you looking for an exciting place to work, surrounded by people with a genuine desire to do the right thing for our communities? Then we want to hear from you. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and front-facing, someone who wants to work with their staff and embrace the team. This is your opportunity to create an outlook based on networks and to ensure we continue to genuinely live our values as a way of life within the council. This is your chance to use your experience of working in partnership, leading staff, and developing an organisational culture that is committed to strong performance, high standards and quality services for our residents. We have some exciting priorities already laid out for the next five years, and we cannot wait to see what you can bring to continue to shape, develop and enhance our brilliant teams.
