Job Description

World Cancer Research Fund Clinical Research Training Fellow in breast cancer

This post offers the opportunity for a Doctor in specialist training to gain experience in breast cancer research within a comprehensive centre for cancer treatment and research. It is designed to fulfil the requirements for an out-of-programme experience for a specialist medical trainee in oncology, breast surgery, pathology or any other disciplines related to breast cancer, but may also be suitable for an individual who does not yet have a national training number but is committed to and wishes to pursue a career in the field of breast cancer. You will take part in a structured training programme of research leading to submission of a higher degree and there are excellent opportunities to maintain your clinical skills within the relevant clinical departments of University Hospital Southampton cancer services.

The post is not formally recognised for training but there are well-developed site specialised multidisciplinary teams that afford the opportunity to gain expertise in the surgical and oncological management of breast cancer. There is no out of hours commitment.

This is a 3 year fixed term contract in the first instance.

Please note:successful applicants will be appointed to a different salary range (£44159 to£64288) if they were at ST3 on or before 2 August 2016.
